Come cycle with me (2016)

Trudi has been a keen cyclist for many years.
When planning this exhibition she decided not to use formats that followed each other sequentially. Hence the resulting smaller black and white linoleum prints have more or less the same upper figure of cyclists, with only the heads differing to portray the following messages: See me not; Puff to get there; Speed; Will make it; Oh what fun; Sweating; Swearing; I am trying.

With these messages Trudi demonstrates the traumas cyclists experience when cycling in tournaments. Her aim with the exhibition was to make huge collagraphs of the routes while embodying a playful attitude. The result was the prints: Double wheels; Single wheel; My way; and See you soon.

This endeavour was highly personal and somewhat isolated. Moreover, the way she displayed the artworks was true to her artistic oevre. She was producing art as never before, using bicycle tyres to print with, and metal gauze to cut, display and print the routes. She had collected three car springs to utilise as sculptural declarations: in the BLUE ROUTE she used bloudraad; in the RED ROUTE a colourful plastic pipe into which she poured colour; and in the WHITE ROUTE metal gauze cut into strips, folded, rolled and bent to make the final declaration.
